Hello Gator Community,
It is my pleasure to welcome everyone back to school for the 2019-20 school year.
I hope that you all had a restful time with friends and family enjoying all the great experiences of summer break. We said goodbye to our wonderful sixth grade students and we know they will have a positive experience in middle school. We wish them all the best, and we hope they fondly remember their elementary experience at Golden Hill. We also have many new students who will experience our amazing school for the first time, and I want to extend a very warm welcome to them.
This year we will continue our focus on the Common Core State Standards as we strive for excellence with our academic programs. We continue to make progress towards academic proficiency according to our state assessment (CAASPP). We will also continue integrating our ELA, Math, Writing, Social Studies and Science standards with our dynamic art program. We have many opportunities for our students to develop their skills in Visual and Performing Arts through classroom instruction and skill based instruction by teachers with specialized skills through our Fullerton School District Education Foundation funded All the Arts Program.
We have many projects on our campus that are completed or are in the beginning stages of being built. First, I want to thank everyone for being patient with us with our Arts Center. We have two beautiful rooms that will be used for our Visual and Performing Arts instruction. We also completed our new Peaceful Playground Program (painted games) on our kindergarten playground. This is a component of our PBIS program where we offer positive choices for our student’s playtime. Other projects include finishing our backpack rack installation, painted mural on our west facing Media Center wall, and our new playground structure, which will include a rubberized play surface and grass area.
We will be ready for your children on August 12 for our first day back to school. This is always a fun and exciting day. Don’t forget to bring your camera as you don’t want to miss this memorable experience. Please remember that we will begin our instructional day at 8:40 for 1st through 6th grade and at 8:45 for kindergarten. All parents, guardians and family members are asked to exit the school grounds at that time.
Don’t forget to mark your calendars for our first PTA meeting on August 14 at 9:00am in our MPR. Please stop by the office to check in and obtain a visitor’s badge. Our Back to School Night is on August 22 from 5:30pm to 7:00pm.
I want to take a moment and thank our district staff for working so hard over the summer to get our school ready for the first day back. Thank you to our Golden Hill staff for your continued focus on students and a special thank you to our amazing parent organizations, PTA and Golden Hill Education Foundation, for your continued support and love.
I am so excited to see everyone and hear about your summer adventures.
